Our Story
First established in 2013 by Carl Meyer, the company has grown into a small dedicated team, working across two offices in Cromwell and Wanaka. In 2017 Mark Cruden joined the company and Meyer Cruden Engineering was formed.

Our goal is to provide practical engineering solutions that consider constructability, long term performance, and cost. We strive for excellence and aim to deliver high quality engineering in conjunction with exceptional customer service and communication.
Our Team
Carl Meyer
Director / Senior Engineer - Structural
CPEng, BE (Hons), CMEngNZ
Carl gained valuable work experience in New Zealand and Australia before starting Meyer Engineering in 2013. Having now worked on thousands of projects Carl understands the value in providing practical innovative construction solutions. Carl's project portfolio is wide and varied, ranging from high end residential and commercial projects to building alterations, peer reviews, and seismic assessments.
Carl leads the structural team and is based in our Cromwell office.
Mark Cruden
Director / Senior Engineer - Civil & Geotechnical
CPEng (Civil & Geotechnical), BEng (Hons), CMEngNZ
Mark is a chartered Civil and Geotechnical Engineer with a wealth of experience in land development and transportation engineering. Originally from Scotland, Mark has practiced as an engineer in New Zealand since 2003.
Mark delivers local civil and geotechnical projects in conjunction with providing specialist procurement, pavement and asset management advice at a national level to industry, local government and Waka Kotahi.
Mark really enjoys the balance that this variety of work brings. Mark leads the civil and geotechnical team and is based in our Wanaka office.
Vicki Smith
Office Manager
Vicki looks after the day-to-day running of the offices. Financial, business and project administration, client and contractor relationship management, as well as making sure all members of staff are well supported with their HR and well-being needs. With a consistent smile and positive attitude, Vicki is always ready to assist with your project enquiries.
Cameron McNoe
Intermediate Engineer - Structural
BEng, GMEngNZ
Cameron joined the company in 2015 as a graduate of Canterbury University. Cameron is a highly valued member of the team.
Clients regularly comment on Cameron's approachable personality and for providing practicable build-able solutions. Cameron is based in our Cromwell office.
Teegan Vink
Engineering Geologist
BSc – Geology and PMEG
Teegan originally joined MCE in 2016 as our first scholarship recipient and student engineer, while completing his studies at the University of Canterbury. After completing his studies in 2019, he has worked with expansive soils in Auckland and liquefiable soils in Christchurch.
Teegan re-joined the company in January 2022 as a highly valued member of the Geotechnical team based in Wanaka. From March 2024 Teegan is on extended overseas leave.
Sean Robson
CAD Draftsman
Sean comes from a structural engineering background. He has worked in New Zealand and Australia.
Sean is working between both Cromwell and Wanaka offices assisting the team on a variety of design projects.
Jackson Walker
Civil Engineer
BEngTech (Civil)
Jackson joined the team in March 2023 after travelling and living overseas including Auckland and Whistler.
Jackson joins the civil team in Wanaka and is working on three waters design.
Archie Reed
Civil Engineer
MEng (Hons)
Originally from the UK, Archie joined the team in September 2023 after a period of travelling the world. He worked previously as a Civil Engineer and Project manager for a number of years in the UK.
Archie works in the civil team in Wanaka as a Geotechnical Engineer, As a keen skier, trail runner and climber he enjoys all Wanaka has to offer.
Jordan Cathcart
Senior Civil Engineer
BEng (Hons)
Jordan has several years’ experience working for Local Council in the 3 Waters field with a background in asset management, hydraulic modelling, project management and design.
Jordan joined the Civil team in February 2024, after moving to Wanaka from North Canterbury.
Jan Svoboda
Structural Engineer
After graduating from structural engineering in Prague and teaching reinforced structures Jan joined one of the biggest building companies in the Czech Republic focusing on large scale industrial buildings. The passion for seeking new experiences, architecture and outdoor activities brought him to New Zealand.
Jan joined Meyer Cruden in 2023, where he is expanding and sharing his knowledge.
Filip Dawkins
CAD Draftsman
Originally from South Africa, Filip joined the team in February 2024.
With over a decade of design experience, Filip is based in the Cromwell office and is assisting the team on a variety of design projects.
